PNG files are lossless and do not shrink with quality. For a much smaller file, save PNG images as WebP or JPG, or set a maximum width.

How to compress an image

  1. Click the box above, or drag your images into it.
  2. Choose a quality, or switch to "To a maximum file size" and type the size you need.
  3. Download each image, or use the ZIP button to get them all at once. If you change a setting, the images are redone automatically.

Which settings should I use?

For photos on a website or in an email, quality 70 to 80 usually makes the file several times smaller with almost no visible difference. If a form says "maximum 200 KB", choose "To a maximum file size" and enter 200. If the image is huge, setting a maximum width such as 1920 pixels shrinks it even more.

Questions

Are my images uploaded anywhere?

No. The compression happens inside your browser, on your own phone or computer. Your images are never sent to our server or to anyone else.

Why did a PNG not get smaller?

PNG keeps every pixel exactly, so there is no quality setting to lower. If the file cannot be made smaller, you get the original back and the list says "Already as small as possible". To shrink a PNG, save it as WebP or JPG, or set a maximum width. Note that JPG turns transparent areas white.

What happens if the size I asked for is too small?

The tool lowers the quality first and then the picture size until it fits. If it cannot reach your size, it gives you the smallest result it could make and says so.

Is camera information such as location kept?

When an image is recompressed here, details such as the camera model and GPS location are not copied to the new file. If an image is already as small as it can be, you get the original file back unchanged, and that file still has its own details.

Can I compress many images at once?

Yes. Add as many as you like and download them one by one or as a single ZIP file. Very large batches may be slow on older phones, so split them if the page becomes sluggish.
